All apprentices are expected to spend 20% off the job. This sentence can scare Employers off apprenticeships due to misunderstanding around the phrase. It appears as though the apprentice must spend 20% of their time away from the office but this simply isn’t always the case. In this blog we will cover different ways you can integrate the 20% off the job without leaving the office. So, listen up scaredy cats, this information is for you.
Some of the off the job (OTJ) will take place in the form of group workshops, pre-course actions and readings. Employers should take advantage of other opportunities to enrich knowledge and skills which will make up the remainder of the 20%. We have lots of examples to share with you and to make it easy we have displayed this information as a video.
