Aspire is opening its doors to a number of the region’s SMEs and business professionals – allowing them access to the same top-level people training as used across the NHS, Wincanton PLC and many other large UK businesses and public organisations – as Aspire launches its latest offering.
Based in Holmfield Mills, Halifax, West Yorkshire the management training company has announced the launch of its ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme, allowing first-line managers and supervisors of SMEs as well as other business professionals, to subscribe to the course with the aim of improving their effectiveness as a leader in the workplace and progressing up the career ladder.
Commenting on the launch, Trevor Wheatly, managing director of Aspire, said: “At Aspire, we develop people to improve business performance through a range of bespoke workshops and programmes.
“Traditionally, we’re appointed by a business to design and deliver training workshops with the aim of improving the skills and capability of the workforce to improve business performance in areas such as customer service, process improvement, coaching and performance management, and so we work with delegates to meet this need. However, through our open programmes from our office in Halifax, West Yorksire SMEs and other business professionals can have access to the same top-level training we deliver to large organisations across the UK. ”
The ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme has been devised for companies who have expanded in recent months, growing their workforce and promoting members of staff into management roles, as the economy shows signs of recovery.
Mr Wheatly continued: “Often smaller businesses and organisations promote a person because they’re good at their job but they aren’t given the training and support that is needed to step into management. Because SME’s are small in nature, they don’t have a lot of people in this situation at any one time, therefore it’s not cost-effective to commission a full in-house departmental management skills training programme.
“The launch of our new ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme will absolutely fill this need. Ultimately, Aspire is committed to developing the leaders of the future, and a vital part of this is helping the business leaders of tomorrow grow, regardless of the size of company they come from.”
Aspire trialled elements of the ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme prior to the official launch with 100 per cent positive feedback – all of the delegates said the course was beneficial to them, providing them with tips and techniques enabling them to develop professionally and deliver results for their business.
The programme consists of a series of five one-day workshops which give first line managers and supervisors practical tools and core skills instrumental in achieving business objectives including: personal leadership; leading people and teams; managing performance; managing time and effectiveness; and delivering for the customer.
The first workshop of the ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme will run on Tuesday 30th September 2014. One workshop is to be held per month with the course coming to completion on Tuesday 10th February 2015. Further ‘Stepping into Management’ open programmes are also planned to run throughout 2015.
All workshops take place at Aspire’s office in Halifax, West Yorkshire between 9.30am and 4.30pm with refreshments provided during breakout sessions. The cost of completing the ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme is £100 per module.
For an additional fee, delegates of the ‘Stepping into Management’ open programme may also be awarded a Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management from the Institute of Leadership and Management, pending completion of three written assignments about what they have learned during the period of the course and how their new-found knowledge has been applied in the workplace.
The cost of the ILM qualification is £165 and is worth six VRQ credits.
