Question: Who is eligible for our Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager Apprenticeship?

Answer: The programme is eligible for people who have started, or are currently in a role, where they have to manage other managers. It is also eligible for project managers who have a broad sphere of influence and manage different stake holders. This includes managers who delegate, set objectives and run different projects. 

Question: What does the Apprenticeship cover? 

Answer: The apprenticeship starts off with a launch event. This allows the line manager and learner to understand what the programme entails. Then we move into the programme content which includes modules such as; Self Awareness, Personal Effectiveness, Leading People, Finance, Decision Making and Building relationships with Stakeholders, both inside and outside the organisation. Question: As it is an Open Apprenticeship, will there be any changes to delivery? 

Answer: There will be the opportunity for the learners to network with different people from a range of organisations. It will be delivered virtually and we have different methods of learning that we can incorporate, for example, our Digital Learning Hub (DLH). Our DLH enables learners to access learning remotely, with knowledge and information hosted on there to prepare you for the module.

The workshops we run will be done virtually using Zoom or Teams. It is really important to differentiate between a management development programme and an apprenticeship and with our Level 5 Operations/Departmental Programme your manager will complete Skills Assessment which will allow them to implement skills they have learnt on the apprenticeship into your organisation. 

Question: What are the benefits to my organisation and managers who will be attending this apprenticeship?

Answer: There are many benefits for your organisation. Firstly, your managers will have the opportunity to work on the business as well as in the business. They will also have the opportunity to work on projects throughout the apprenticeship, which will help improve productivity and lead to an increase in your organisation's efficiency. Your managers will also have the opportunity to strengthen their internal and external business networks and relationships. Question: How long does the programme take to complete? 

Answer: There is 15 months of on programme learning and within that we cover all of the modules. Then your manager will approach the gateway phase, which means they are ready to complete their End Point Assessment. Preparing for this End Point Assessment till completion, can take another 3 months. We find that this is a natural fit for the manager on the programme and for your organisation. 

Question: How does 20% Off The Job (OTJ) work?

Answer: As this is an apprenticeship there is 20% OTJ learning involved. The manager on the programme will use this time to build up lots of evidence that they are progressing with their learning on a continual basis which will add up to 20% of their working hours. Examples of OTJ can include completing personal learning, attending virtual workshops, stretch activites at work, applying their learning at work and wider reading.
