Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) - Developing a Strategic Plan
Aspire is a preferred supplier for Team Development and Planning events at YBS. We enable teams to develop strategic plans and strategies to improve their performance. We equip employees and managers at all levels with the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours to respond to and implement the changes within their teams and the business.
Aspire have been working with the Financial Planning and Analytics Team at YBS Group to develop a strategic plan and way of working for 2017 and beyond. We also supported the team with identifying team and personal development needs, which has helped to populate future training and coaching development plans.
What we did
DAY 1 - VISION, PURPOSE & DIRECTION
The first day looked at ‘where are we now, where are we going’. We supported the team to step back from their operational duties and think about several key areas. These included; 360 Perspective of the team, areas for growth, key stakeholders and developing the business plan.
After the first day, we invited delegates to complete a Team Management Systems (TMS) questionnaire.
DAY 2 - TEAM RELATIONSHIPS AND DEVELOPMENT
The second day looked at ‘how do we need to work as a team to get there’. We facilitated the day around the TMS profiles encouraging the delegates to think about what makes a good team and how is their team built up. The second half of the day we supported the delegates to think about how they want and need to be as a team.
After day 2, we invited delegates to complete 360 degree feedback and provided them with a coaching feedback session in preparation for day 3.
DAY 3 - TEAM LEADERSHIP AND PERFORMANCE
The third day focused on ‘what leadership skills do we need to have’. The key aim of the day was to finalise the team business plan and strategy. This included looking at competencies and behaviours in the team, how do they get the best out of others and the individual team roles and enhancing the culture they want in their team.
Day 4 - DELIVERING BUSINESS AND CHANGE
The final day focused on ‘how do we need to promote ourselves’. The 3/4-day workshop prepared the team for delivering a presentation of the team’s 2017/18 strategy to key senior stakeholders.
