Trusting In Our Leaders

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) and Management Today magazine have just published the 2011 Leadership Trust Index.

The good news is that trust in CEO’s is increasing, and that trust in Line Managers has remained static.  Leaders in the Private and Third Sectors are more trusted by their staff than leaders in the Public Sector.  However, there is no room for complacency as one third of staff do not trust their leaders.

So what do staff take into account when considering whether they trust their leaders?

  • understanding
  • ability
  • consistency
  • fairness
  • openness
  • integrity

How do you think your staff would rate you on the above components?  Are you a leader they trust?
